Xpressive ink becomes transparent or disappears when hot liquid is added. The mug starts opaque black (cold) and "reveals" the full-color imprint (hot). This mug is hand-wash only and microwave safe. The color of the direct imprint will vary slightly from the hot to the cold version. Due to the possible color shift, a physical proof is recommended.
