Maybe Forever 21 is just ahead of its time, or maybe it’s pulling our legs. Either way, its latest look is definitely avant-garde. Because the ’90s are back in style, chokers are the latest trending accessory. According to Yahoo, Forever 21 went too far with its latest look: the “neck brace” choker.

The recent product release almost resembles a neck brace, and, subsequently, social media is having a field day.

The new design is about four inches thick with a metal zipper in front. Although the retailer is no longer selling the choker, it still appears alongside other articles of clothing. Not to mention, there’s still plenty of ridiculous-looking chokers still for sale, which begs the question, “What is up with this choker trend?”
