IHOP Is the Latest Food Chain to Create Must-Have Apparel

March 20, 2018 | Hannah Abrams

Aside from Pizza Hut’s new kicks, It’s been pretty quiet on the food chain apparel front. A few months ago, we had new apparel lines from Arby’s, KFC, Taco Bell and White Castle. But our stomachs and wallets have been rumbling waiting for the next big food apparel drop. Thankfully, IHOP is coming in clutch with its brand new PancakeWear line. Perhaps it should change its name to International House of Promos because this branded apparel is sizzling.

According to a press release, IHOP announced its PancakeWear limited edition clothing line would feature one-of-a-kind adult- and child-sized one pieces, lounge wear and socks.

The collection will be released in partnership with IHOP’s “60 Days of Giving” campaign, and a portion of the proceeds will benefit the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals.

Unlike the other food apparel lines, IHOP is taking an interesting approach to selling the pancake pajamas. Limited inventory of the spring collection is currently available on eBay for charity, so hurry up and buy your favorites.

“Breakfast and laid-back loungewear just go together at IHOP, so we thought it would be fun to design a limited edition merchandise collection that reflects the spirit of the brand and what we see in our restaurants all the time—people in pajamas enjoying pancakes,” said Stephanie Peterson, executive director of communications at IHOP. “PancakeWear by IHOP was launched to celebrate our 60th anniversary as a brand, but also to do a lot of good for our largest charity partner, Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals. A portion of proceeds from every sale of our breakfast-inspired one pieces, lounge pants and socks directly supports CMN Hospitals and the more than 10 million kids that are treated every year at their 170 affiliated facilities.”

IHOP hopes to raise $5 million for children’s charities this year, and it hopes this special edition apparel will be a big component.

The restaurant chain is also looking to add a social media component to its campaign, with purchasers encouraged to wear their pancake loungewear into their local IHOP, post the photos on their social media, and use the hashtag #PancakeWear.

We love the charitable component to this food merchandise, and we agree that pancakes and lounge wear are the perfect dynamic duo.

Who will be the next food company to throw its hat into the apparel game? We’re really hoping it’s Long John Silver’s, but it’s anyone’s guess.
