See, Even the Dalai Lama Likes Getting Swag

April 17, 2018 | Tom Higgins

Every once in a while, we here at Promo Markit come across a feel-good story involving promotional products and feel that you, our dear readers, deserve to feel good too. After all, it’s been a long winter, and with spring on the way, we figured it’s time to follow suit by casting away the bad news, at least for today. So, here goes.

Aaron Rodgers, star quarterback for the Green Bay Packers and all around likeable guy, traveled to India with girlfriend Danica Patrick (of NASCAR fame) in order to represent the Starkey Hearing Foundation, for which they’ll be helping to fit children and adults for hearing aids.

While there, the NFL superstar decided to pay a visit to the Dalai Lama at his residence in Dharamsala. Not one to show up empty-handed, Rodgers brought his Holiness some Packers swag, an exchange that has in turn gifted us with a lovely, joyful photo of the pair:

In case you were wondering, that is the Dalai Lama’s official Instagram account. That’s right, the Dalai Lama has an Instagram. Welcome to the future.

Just look at them though—if their smiles don’t bring a smile to your face, then we just can’t help you. Also, we’re wondering whether the Dalai Lama has ever held a football before. He looks a bit perplexed. Not that we’d expect him to have tossed around the old pigskin before, but he’s holding the thing like it’s about to come to life in his hands. If Rodgers thought this was going to turn into a scouting trip, he may have been a tad disappointed. Sorry, your Holiness. Better luck next time.

In all seriousness, this is a fun intercultural exchange taking place, and we’re just happy to be able to play digital witness to it. Also, if this doesn’t prove the power of branded products, then nothing can.
